Attached is a survey that aims to monitor emotional regulation in students before and during a regularly implemented yoga program. The survey questions ask students to reflect on whether or not they are able to detect emotions in their physical body, such as anger, sadness, anxiety, or feelings of overwhelm.
Questions also gauge how confident students are with using calm down strategies and practicing self-management skills when expressing emotions in times of stress. There are five questions total and each answer is based on a seven-point Likert Scale.
It is recommended that students complete the same survey weekly, with two weeks of baseline data before the yoga program begins, followed by eight weeks of plan implementation.
Additionally, teachers will complete a one question survey each week that asks them to rate how well they think the students in their class are emotionally regulated. This allows the teachers to compare how well they think the class is regulated versus the student’s self-reflection.
If data is maintainable and achievable, teachers are more likely to use it and data is more likely to be reliable.
Once the surveys are completed each week, the teacher can input the results in a pre-designed spreadsheet. A graph will be provided to auto populate from the data collected.
